Assalam-0-Alaikum,

Today i will just give you a short review of story , "How I Wasted my Whole Day using FileZilla?"

What Is Filezilla ?

Its the official ftp client to connect ftp and sftp clients , Upto 87% of Worlds Web Hosting Services Recommend to Use It . As a File Transfer protocol . its the effective freeware tool.

But!!

A strange thing happened to me tommorow night . when i was doing a project of Web of some client . well i was not to much surprised to see that option . and i have found very Less of peoples Explaining Such Kind Of Issues on net , may be that are to short to  explain ? No they think That are common Issue ,

But !!

I have'nt seen any Snapshot of it on net to help me out so i started to explore its uses myself .

How To Resume a Single file like HC.zip if its intrupted during Transfer ?

Ans : Yes ,It can be resumed by just again drag and drop the same file on same directory , and Follow these three step As Shown in fig :

Enabling passive mode !!!!

In most cases, you should be using "passive mode" to avoid network problems.

These instructions explain how to turn on passive mode for FileZilla (version 3.1.6) for Windows, although other versions are similar:
  1. Start the FileZilla program if it isn't already running.
  2. Click Edit, Settings in the menu bar. The "FileZilla Options" window will appear.
  3. Select Connections, then FTP on the left hand side.
  4. Choose the Passive (recommended) option.

It should be look like this one:

After you've made the changes, click OK to close the window, then try to connect and see if it has solved the problem.

Choosing active mode instead:

Although it's very rare, we've also heard of a situation where you need to use "active mode" instead of passive mode. In particular, you may need to do this if you see a "Software caused connection abort" error message.

Just follow the steps above, but choose "Active" instead.

UNIX server Issues :

Problem 1: My FTP program connects and then won't display a list of files on your server, or immediately disconnects

Solution: You need to toggle the Passive Mode setting on your FTP program. If it is currently off, turn it on. If it is currently on, turn it off. If that doesn't solve the problem, you might need to try a different FTP program.

Problem 2: My FTP program seems to disconnect often without warning

Solution: Our server has a timeout of 300 seconds. If it does not see any files transmit during that time it disconnects your FTP client. To reconnect, look for an menu option or button that says Connect or Reconnect. On FileZilla,Reconnect is found under the File menu.

Problem 3: Files I publish on the remote server have the wrong timestamp

Solution: In your FTP program you will need to find the setting which allows you to adjust the server time zone. You would change the remote time stamp by -3 hours. In FileZilla, this setting can be reached under the Advanced menuServer timezone offset section when creating a site profile.

The load-balanced, clustered web servers hosting your site are physically located at two different time zones. One set of servers is located on the East Coast and the other is located in the Mid-West. All servers are standardized to reflect EST regardless of timezone they are actually in.

Windows server Issues:

1.Uploading with FileZilla over FTPS:

Setting up a site profile:

The first time you use FileZilla, it is good to set up a profile that saves your setting for future use.

1. Launch FileZilla.

2. Under the File menu, choose Site Manager

3. Click on the New Site button.

4. You'll be able to write the name of your site fill out details as shown in fig :

5. Name the site ftp.hosting.easystreet.com. for example :p

6. Click with your mouse into the hostname field at the right under Site details. Enterftp.wsh.easystreet.com.

7. Under servertype choose FTPS - FTP over implicit TLS/SSL.

8. In the User box type your provided user name. In this example, we're usinges58123 as an example.

9. In the Password box, type your assigned password.

10. Click the Advanced tab. Here, you may specify the local and remote directories for your web content. In general, your content will go under the root directory wwwroot directory on the remote server.

11. Click the Transfer Settings tab and select "Passive mode" .

12. Click the OK button to save and exit.

NOTE: When you connect over FTPS for the first time you will be prompted with a Unknown certificate warning. Check the box to 'Always trust certificate in future sessions' and click on OK to continue.

Once connected, upload files using FileZilla

1. Unless you have specified a remote directory, your FTP program will log you onto the top level directory for the site, also known as /. Web content either goes into your wwwroot folder.

2. The right side of the window shows the files on the remote server. To get to the directory for your web content, double click on the wwwroot folder in the Right most side of window.

3. The left side of the window is for your local files. Navigate to the directory with your web content.

4. On the left side of the window, right mouse click on any files or folders you would like to upload, and choose upload from the menu that appears. You can see downloads and uploads status on the status bar ,at the bottom of tool.

5. When done, go to the File menu and choose disconnect. Or, if your connection has been idle for awhile, you might find that you've been automatically disconnected.

Personal Web Space Issue :

Problem 1: Why Can't i see my images ?

Solution : Double check that the name of your image on the server exactly matches the img srctag. Remember that you must match upper and lowercase letters.
Make sure that you have your image in the www directory, and it's in the same place that you refer to in the img src tag.
If you used DOS FTP or WS_FTP LE, or another tool that has you specify whether a file is text or binary, make sure you upload your images as a binary file. (Most current FTP programs have an automatic setting that does this work for you).

I think i have answered all of questions any more questions will be appreciated in comments. thanks and like / share my article, to help others . :p
